Danville is a flat evergreen manzanita (arches to 3 inches high in middle), with light gray-green leaves. A manzanita from the coast of Monterey Co..  In the wild it's mixed with Baccharis pilularis,  Ceanothus griseus, Ceanothus thyrsiflorus, Erigeron glaucus, Eriogonum parvifolium, Eriophyllum staechadifolium artemisiaefolium,  Gaultheria shallon,  Polypodium californicum, Polystichum munitum, and Iris douglasiana.

Plant part shade to full sun (with water), more sun near coast. It likes good drainage but tolerates adobe. Very garden tolerant to the point that it likes garden conditions. Fast growing for a manzanita. The cultivar Carmel Sur is more cold tolerant and more drought tolerant than Danville, but 'Danville' is a more attractive ground cover. These grow on the coastal bluffs, in full wind. Danville has survived open ground and 8-9 F for 3-4 nights and ground frost to 3 inches(it got a beat up but recovered quickly in the spring). It prefers some afternoon shade in our location. The leaves are glossy with a clean tidy appearance.

Use with Penstemon 'Margarita BOP', Erigeron glaucus 'Cape Sebastian', and Zauschneria septentrionalis 'Mattole River' to make a beautiful border.
