The 'Zin'
form of Arctostaphylos stanfordiana stanfordiana is a vase shaped plant with purple bark and clean dark green leaves. The foliage seems to be fairly well retained to the ground and makes a good hedge plant. Not hairy or particularly sticky, nice and clean. Flowers are not dramatic, but nice. Plant for a 6 foot or so hedge of purple gray/green. This manzanita lived in a spot where everything else died. Tolerates heat, sun, too much water in spring, too little in summer. 'Zin' Manzanita is a nice tight bush that really doesn't need much care in most of coastal California.

Zin Manzanita is a very clean plant that makes a dark green bush that works as a hedge in most of coastal. Excellent in San Francisco, Oakland the Bay area or coastal Los Angeles. This one seems to tolerate garden conditions, while also being drought tolerant along the coast.

This tidy mid sized manzanita is named by the founder of Las Pilitas Nursery, Bert Wilson, for his Burmese son-in-law Zin Nyunt.
