California milkweed is a fuzzy gray milkweed with magenta flowers found mostly in high desert regions of California. It can be found in dry slopes under 7500 ft. This soft desert milkweed grows mostly in lower rainfall ranges where precipitation is usually snow in the winter and some thunderstorms in the summer. Can usually be found amongst Pinyons or Gray pines. Works well planted with Salvia Pachyphylla, Penstemon grinnellii, Eriogonum umbellatum.

Asclepias californica tolerates sand.

Foliage of Asclepias californica has color gray and is stressdeciduous.
Flower of Asclepias californica has color violet.

Communities for Asclepias californica:Chaparral, Mixed-evergreen Forest, Pinyon-Juniper Woodland and Yellow Pine Forest.
