Cuesta pass checkerbloom is a 1-2' perennial with 1"pink flowers on green-grey stems. A nice looking plant for serpentine areas or in most gardens. In the wild it is summer dormant, with a little water it looks good all year. It is not very drought tolerant. It can take cold to 15 deg. F. only. It does best in groups with other perennials. In the wild it occurs with Sisyrinchium bellum, Trichostema lanatumand Dendromecon rigida.
