Cleveland's Beardtounge is a southern California Penstemon 2-3 ft foot tall with pink flowers and gray foliage. This dryland Penstemon is very showy. It grows in the inner coast ranges of Southern California in the desert or along the edges of the desert and Baja border. It is cold tolerant to about 25 deg.. Gray foliage, resembles a cross between P. centranthifolius and P. spectabilis with pink flowers. It's amazing to trip across this beautiful flower in a place that you'd not expect anything to be alive, let alone flowering brightly. Great drought tolerant hummingbird flower for a hot dry Riverside or inland San Diego garden.
