Bloomeria crocea

Golden stars are perennial corms with many yellow flowers attached at a central point on top of a tall stem. The structure resembles a dandelion head. Golden stars can be found in clay and serpentine soil as well as decomposed granite. Unlike many wild flowers it can survive in grassland areas and can compete with alien annual grasses. It can be found in part shade as well as full sun. This plant has been moved from family Liliaceae to family Themidaceae.
