California Buttercup, Ranunculus californicus is a cheery yellow perennial that grows in amongst Blue Oak woodland. In between Oaks it is often growing in clay soil although it can also be found in serpentine. Its companions are Blue-eyed grass, Checkerbloom, California Yarrow and Shooting Stars among many other woodland flowers.

Ranunculus californicus tolerates clay and serpentine.

Foliage of Ranunculus californicus is stressdeciduous.
Flower of Ranunculus californicus has color yellow.

Communities for Ranunculus californicus:Valley Grassland, Northern Coastal Sage Scrub, Northern Oak Woodland and Central Oak Woodland.
