Anniella pulchra, California Legless Lizard

California Legless lizard lives from the Bay Area down into Baja. Mostly along the coast, but it also in the Southern San Joaquin Valley.
They prefer loose soils. We commonly find them when we're digging a water line in loose soil.
They can winter hibernate and are most active in warm soils of summer. Preys on small insects, spiders and larva, and are preyed on by Alligator Lizards, snakes, birds, and other small predators.
