Malacothamnus densiflorus, or dense flowered bush mallow, grows from San Diego up to the west slopes around Palm springs and west to Orange County. Nice flower and easy to grow. Makes a good background plant for intermixing with shrub Ceanothus to add more color and contrast. Prefers well draining soil whether it be sand or clay. Cannot be used in a high deer area as bambi likes the plant.

Malacothamnus densiflorus tolerates sand.
