Mahonia dictyota

California mahonia (Berberis dictyota, why not californica, don't know) grows in isolated spots from mountains around Redding down to Baja. The plant vary from a foot high mat to a minithicket six feet tall and wide. VERY slow, takes us awhile to make a gallon, take you awhile to make a thicket, bush or even sub-shrub.


Mahonia dictyota is great for a bird garden.
Foliage of Mahonia dictyota is evergreen.
Flower of Mahonia dictyota has color yellow.
Fruit of Mahonia dictyota is edible.

Communities for Mahonia dictyota:Chaparral, Yellow Pine Forest and Central Oak Woodland.
