Rubins Blue is a small umbrella shaped evergreen shrub that grows to 8 feet or so. Foliage is dark green and shaped like a Skylark, or Joyce Coulter. The flowers are deep navy blue and showy. This Ceanothus is a selection of Greg Rubin (Californias Own Landscape) in Escondido. Parents were probably Ceanothus cyaneus Sierra Blue and the hybrid Ceanothus Concha. If you mix this selection with Ceanothus Skylark and Ceanothus Joyce Coulter you can create a green mounding landscape. Click here for more about Mountain Lilacs.
