A rather low sprawling deciduous shrub that forms a sparse groundcover at middle to high elevations surrounding the S.Ca. deserts into Nev.,Ariz.. We\'ve seen them growing in part shade and just out of a seep. I would use this plant at the 4000\' elevation or on the East Coast to mix with non-native bulbs as the bulbs can grow right through it but it can provide a continuum after the bulbs are gone. It would also be effective with Iris miss. planted in the snow field and S.parishii just above it. It does best here in shade and regular water. In the wild it grows with Solidago and Ribes in seeps under Pinus ponderosa. It is only drought tolerant in higher elevations or areas of rainfall greater than 35inch.

Symphoricarpos parishii tolerates seasonal flooding.
Symphoricarpos parishii is great for a bird garden.
Foliage of Symphoricarpos parishii is deciduous.
Flower of Symphoricarpos parishii has color pink.
Fruit of Symphoricarpos parishii is edible.
