Stachys chamissonis

Magenta Butterfly Flower.

1Gal Container (Up to 0)
A 2-3' perennial with 1-2" purple-pink fl.. A good hummingbird plant. This plant grows in wet spots of the redwood belt and in SLO County. It seems to be stable here as long as we give it water, water and water. In its native sites it grows roadside drainage ditches and standing in water. In containers it grows too fast and becomes a pot bound mess in nothing flat. This is one of the few natives that do not care how pot bound, old, frost burnt even drought stressed it is , as soon as it gets in a wet spot look out! It will sucker until there is no more moisture. In the nursery it is a Wha'is that?!

Stachys chamissonis tolerates sand, no drainage and seasonal flooding.
Stachys chamissonis is great for a butterfly garden.
Foliage of Stachys chamissonis is deciduous.
Flower of Stachys chamissonis has color pink.
