Pinus quadrifolia, Four Leaf Pinyon Pine leaves - grid24_24
A pinyon pine from So. Calif. into Baja on the west slopes of the desert margins. We've had customers rave about the symmetry and neatness of trees they've seen in Botanic gardens. The ones they saw were 15-20' tall and 40 years old. This tree has done ok with us but has no growth speed. It survived here in the 1990 freeze in gallons. This is another one of those species that shouldn't be as hardy as they are.

Foliage of Pinus quadrifolia has color green-gray and is evergreen.
Flower of Pinus quadrifolia has color na.
Fruit of Pinus quadrifolia is edible.
