Penstemon rattanii

Rattan's beardtongue and Eel River Penstemon..

We are not selling this product. This page is for informational purposes only.
Penstemon rattanii native is to northern coastal California. It has purple 1 1/2 inch flowers on 2 feet tall stalks, dark green leaves. Tolerates garden water as long as it has good drainage. It will tolerate full sun near the coast, part shade inland. Cold tolerant to 10 or less (although it shows). We've used it nicely in redwood gardens or Japanese style gardens. Rattan's beardtongue is a little weird compared to other native penstemon's. For us it wants to be in garden conditions with regualr water and part shade or cool sun.

Penstemon rattanii is great for a bird garden.
Foliage of Penstemon rattanii has color green and is evergreen.
Flower of Penstemon rattanii has color violet.
