Olneya tesota, Desert Ironwood, is hardy to about 25 deg.. It's requirements are about the small as citrus. Desert Ironwood small 15-20' desert tree much like a Blue Palo Verde. The wood is hard and strong. It's heavy, it will not float. The seeds are edible after roasting. Give the plant a sun spot with good drainage and a little water. Its best spot would be 5-10' away from a lawn in the lower desert. If you can grow citrus you may be able to grow this. It will go deciduous under cold or drought stress.
