(Ferocactus cylindraceus) A slow growing mound of thorns to maybe 6 ft. Tall and a foot wide. The 3 inch across yellow- orange flowers appear in May - July. Give sun, very fast draining soil, and little water. Drought tolerant, needs dormant period in winter, let soil dry out, rocky slopes in Mojave Desert. Barrel Cactus likes 12-30 inch rocks near it.



Foliage of Ferocactus acanthodes has color white and is evergreen.
Flower of Ferocactus acanthodes has color yellow.
