Rhododendron occidentale

Western Azalea.

1Gal Container (Up to 0)
Grows in bogs, edges of creeks, next to ponds in the Sierras, higher elevations of the Coast Ranges from Mt. Palomar north into Oregon. I\'ve lost a shoe walking out to photograph the flowers before. The ground looked dry and solid, but it was about 1 ft. of raw peat with water and mud under it. Needless to say this plant loves regular water. CALM in Bakersfield had a couple growing for years in alkaline soil on a north wall with regular water.

Rhododendron occidentale tolerates sand and seasonal flooding.

Foliage of Rhododendron occidentale is deciduous.
Flower of Rhododendron occidentale has color white.

Communities for Rhododendron occidentale:Red Fir Forest, Mixed-evergreen Forest and Yellow Pine Forest.
