California Goldenrod is a spectacular yellow flowered perennial that is very showy in the late summer to fall. Attracting pollinating insects and butterflies. Associated plants are commonly Rosa, Symphoricarpos, Juncus, Carex, Rubus, Salvia spathacea, and Satureja douglasii. Sun to part shade, seasonally wet. A great spot to plant this plant is in areas where the ground is wet in March, almost dry in summer. Light level should be non-reflective sun to part shade or high shade.

Solidago californica tolerates sand, clay and seasonal flooding.
