Ponds can become very slimy if there is fertility and no water flow. We tried Scripus californicus in this one. to aerate it. It kind of worked, but filled in the whole thing.  - grid24_24
Typical is a clump 10 ft. wide X 100 yds. length, in marshy areas, with Ptoentilla egedii, Salix lasiolepis, Polygonum amphibium var. emersum, Pennisetum clandestinum. Stems triangular, at least above, grows in shallow water, seeds, roots, and stems important food for mammals and birds that frequent these areas. well-developed infl. bract 1, thick, +- stem-like, infl. panicle-like, not head-like, perianth bristles on fr. thick, flat, fringed w/ soft hairs.

Scirpus californicus tolerates no drainage and seasonal flooding.
