Limonium californicum

Herbaceous Perennial with thick woody base, large, wide mostly basal leaves, pale violet flowers, not as decorative as the exotic species of Limonium as the flowers are smaller and paler, but still showy nevertheless. Grows in salt marshes and the coastal strand plant community along the California coast, and into northern Baja California.

Limonium californicum tolerates seaside conditions, alkaline soil, salt, no drainage and seasonal flooding.

Foliage of Limonium californicum is stressdeciduous.
Flower of Limonium californicum has color violet.
