Bishop's Lotus is an annual, hairy, prostrate, with small flowers yellow turning orange-reddish, prostrate, grows in disturbed areas, of coastal sage scrub, chaparral, woodland, deserts. This genus provides the Larval food plants for Eastern Tailed Blue butterfly.
