Artemisia californica 'Montara is a selection from San Mateo Co. and appears to be a natural hybrid between Artemisia californica and Artemisia pycnocephala.(Both forms have a diploid chromosome count of 18.) Use in a xeroscape garden or as an interface between a native planting and a watered garden. Makes a gray mounding groundcover or mix with Ceanothus to make a sharp contrast.

Artemisia californica 'Montara' tolerates seaside conditions, clay and serpentine.
