Symphyotrichum ascendens

Western aster and Purple Aster.

1Gal Container (Up to 6)
A flat perennial with a 6" flower spike with 2"purple flowers. Likes sun, regular water unless you're in a mountain climate with more than 30 inches of rainfall. Grows from southern California to Alberta and New Mexico. Ours have survived well on 1/week water and full sun. Reports from the Bakersfield area are similar. Lawn border or next to bird bath.

Symphyotrichum ascendens tolerates no drainage and seasonal flooding.
Symphyotrichum ascendens is great for a butterfly garden.
Foliage of Symphyotrichum ascendens has color silver and is evergreen.
Flower of Symphyotrichum ascendens has color violet.

Communities for Symphyotrichum ascendens:Red Fir Forest, Northern Juniper Woodland and Central Oak Woodland.
