We grew this from a Vandenberg mitigation. The mother plants were growing on a ocean facing (west) slope about one mile from the water. The rainfall on the site is 12-15 inches with additional 5-10 inches of fog drip. Temperatures on the site rarely climb above 80 degrees F.(27C). The area where these plants thrive is 1 ft. of sand on red hard pan. Associated plants include Ceanothus impressus imp., Ceanothus ramulosus, Ceanothus cuneatus, Arctostaphylos rudis, Arcto. purissima, Encelia californica, and Salvia spathacea.
