Evergreen shrub (perennial) 3 ft. high, native to Baja and San Diego, red catkin -type flower clusters and leaf color make it a neat attractive plant effective in coastal gardens. This plant looks very different from any other plant I've seen. Needs watering in its habitat every 1-2 weeks until established, then little or none. Dead at 22-25 degrees F.
