Hoary Comma, Polygonia gracilis, is native to much of the Western US and Canada.

Hoary Comma, Polygonia graclis above Big Bear at 7000 ft. There were a lot of currants (Ribes cereum and Ribes nevadense) in the area. Currants are the laval food for this butterfly.
