This was designed and installed by one of our customers over an 8-10 year period. The left hand side of the picture is almost solid shale. Arctostaphylos 'Carmel Sur' is in the foreground, Ceanothus 'Yankee Point' is on the slope, and at least ten other manzanitas are mixed into the garden. (The only non-natives are the two Strawberry trees. ) This landscape could also work well as a commercial planting. Maintenance is very limited, and there is nearly no water use.
