This white sage is about half the size of the regular white sage. The flowers are on a slender spike with very quaint clean flowers that are perfectly size. From the distance the plants look like a dwarf lavender, and look good. Quail like the seeds, butterflies and hummingbirds like the flowers. The compact white sage grows in slightly more edgy spots, not really in chaparral but more of the desert edges at 4000 or so feet. Click here for more about California Sages
