Common name: Firecracker Penstemon.

Description

Penstemon eatonii is similar to Penstemon centranthifolius but without waxy blue coating on leaves and leaves more rounded. Native to Southwest desert mountains . It needs perfect drainage and some water in spring and fall. It seems to like some summer shade here. When it is happy it is quite showy. Give the plant a couple of indirect summer waterings if you need to have the plant stay evergreen in late summer. One of the many surprises within the nursery Firecracker Penstemon will tolerate almost full shade and daily watering. It will still even flower in full shade, stupid plant.
