A small shrub, 2 ft., pink flowers, a desert buckwheat that extends its range into southern Calif. and the Sierra Nevada.E.W.subscaposum is a very low growing form with pink flowers from higher elevations. The buckwheats are very important butterfly plants and one of the pillars of their communities. The flowers, leaves and seeds are all used by all the smaller animals.
