A hybrid that arose on the nursery grounds, and is believed to be a hybrid between Ceanothus oliganthus var. sorediatus and Ceanothus griseus. A mountain lilac with dark glossy leaves that reminds one of the Mirror Plant (Coprosma repens/ C. baueri). Well behaved, and growing to 2 meters(5-7 feet) tall and 2 meters(6-8 feet) wide. It has been both drought tolerant and tolerant of regular water. Useful where you need an evergreen hedge that is attractive all year with a bonus of flowers. Bark is grey-green to white, and flowers are blue. This Ceanothus has worked very well in those shaley clay solils of west Paso Robles and Templeton where everything else is chloritic, this Ceanothus is dark green and stunning. But then again it commonly has the biggest Frankia I've ever seen. Click here for more about Mountain Lilacs.
