Description

Eriogonum wrightii subscaposum is a small buckwheat It is compact and mounding with the plant not exceeding a foot tall. It has slender pale pink flower spikes. This is a a desert buckwheat that extends its range into southern California and the Sierra Nevada. Eriogonum wrightii subscaposum is a very low growing form with pink flowers from higher elevations. The buckwheats are very important butterfly plants and one of the pillars of their communities. The flowers, leaves and seeds are all used by all the smaller animals.
