Coreopsis gigantea, Giant Coreopsis, is a perennial to 4 feet. Giant Coreopsis looks like a tropical tree with 3 inch yellow daisies on top, and the dried lower leaves bending down to cover the trunk; a very different plant, not very tolerant of adobe or poor drainage. Kind of looks like a Dr. Seuss creation. Coreopsis gigantea grows in sand, and is cold tolerant to around 25 degrees F. Native to ocean cliffs and sand dunes San Luis Obispo county to Los Angeles . Very drought tolerant, do not over water. Syn. Leptosyne gigantea, Giant Tickseed.
