Mulefat is an eight foot evergreen shrub, protect from deer,elk,etc.for first few years, grows from coastal areas to Tex., usually around water sources, but not always. In some areas like where the 14 takes off of the 5 south of Santa Clarita, or in the dry washes of Lake Elsinore, Mulefat is the common bush. Seep Willow an important browse source for deer. It's also an important butterfly and insect plant. VERY useful along the edges of fields for beneficial insects.
Syn: Baccharis salicifolia.
