Description
Arctostaphylos subcordata is a manzanita that is supposed to only occur on the channel islands, but occurs in San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara Counties on hillsides near to top of coastal hills/mountains. Santa Cruz Island Manzanita needs great drainage, sun to part shade and dust free conditions. On one mainland site it is near coast live oaks, Lupinus formosa and Arctostaphylos wellsii. On another near Arctostaphylos glandulosa, Eriodictyon capitatum, Ceanothus impressus, Coast Live oak, and Dendromecon rigida.
