Cat-tails are a medium sized water plant that grows from Oregon to Baja and across the US, S. America and Europe. Many bids and animals use the cat-tails for shelter. The Red-wing Black bird uses them to nest and hide in. It is an excellent plant for ponds. Cat-tails tolerate full sun, sand, clay, no drainage, seasonal flooding, and deer. Cat-tails have green foliage, and are stress deciduous.
