All other works, from Intermountain, through Flora of the Pacific Northwest, Flora of San Luis Obispo and Munzs Flora of California use Poa scabrella. I can find no cross reference to the Jepson Manual nomenclature. Other syn. Buckleyana,) Its clumps are 2' tall and 6"across, very fine grass is dark green, this grass ranges from the coast of Ca. to Wash.. It grows in deserts, mountains and valleys in between, if it goes dry, it goes dormant. One of its common names is needle grass. Use on dry slopes under pines mixed with Monardella, Zauschneria, Stipas and Lessingia.
