A conifer that is fairly fast to 20 ft.. It grows along the N. CA. coast to Alaska. It's good for bonsai. Do not expect a straight tree as they are always crooked and windswept. It will grow right on coastal cliffs. Not the most drought tolerant tree we have but will survive along the coasts with no water after established if mulched. The 5 gallon trees survived Dec. 1990 fine with no losses. If you do not specify the subspecies you will get a pine from the high elevations of the West.
