Penstemon pseudospectabilis is a two or three foot perennial with green-red leaves and 1-2" rose purple flowers on a 3' spike. Native to mountains of S.Ca. deserts usually below 4000'. It seems to be garden tolerant and easy to grow. We are having trouble keeping it in stock because we keep selling more than we can grow. Its hardiness has been surprising. The gallons of this survived our -4 better than Arcto. uva-ursi that is native in Alaska and Newfoundland. This penstemon flowers at the same time as California Poppy and Ceanothus 'Skylark'.
