One tough fern, 1/2 to 1' ft. tall. Native throughout Calif.. Tolerant of wind, sun, drought, partial shade, some summer water. This plant grows in full unprotected rock cracks above the nursery I know have reached 130 deg.. (It was 118 in the shade just below it.). The dec. 1990 frost froze most things off this slope but the ferns look better than ever.(?!) The dried fronds were used in tea to treat tuberculosis and colds. This fern would be perfect in a rock wall placed in a wildland garden.
