Malacothamnus fremontii (Malvastrum fremontii, Sphaeralcea Fremontii), Fremont's Bush Mallow grows in the hills of the coast ranges and the Sierra Neveda from about Modesto, Stockon to Sacramento. Flowers are pink on very fuzzy foliage. Spreads by suckers and is useful for that bank in the driveway that you cut too steep and can't stablize with 'normal' plants.
