Very similar to Haplopappus (Hazardia) squarrosa but the flowers are 'permanently yellow' and in terminal cymes. Corolla throat expanded abruptly above tube (Jepson, 1926) Typically native in a disturbed coastal sage scrub, soil sandy loam over clay hardpan, south slope, abundant, with Agrostis sp., HIrschfeldia incana, Atriplex lentiformis. fls. yellow, good mini-wildlife plant. . Essential component of a coastal garden. Native on the Escondido property. (Jepson, 1926)
