Clarkia bottae is an annual much like Clarkia amoena but with slightly larger flowers. Clarkia bottae tolerates full sun, seaside conditions, alkaline soil, salt, and clay. This farewell-to-spring species has green foliage and cup- shaped flowers. Pendant flower buds lift as flowers develop and buds open. Like many Clarkia species C. bottae has multicolored flower parts. It's petals are a dark pink at the outer regions and white with darker spots to the center. It is found in Monterey county along the coastal regions in coastal sage scrub, closed-cone coniferous forest, and mixed evergreen forests.
