We occasionally grow this species. Plants with bulbs and linear leaves, in the lily family, grows best in partly shady, mostly clay to lighter granitic soils in the central western portion of the California and the north to central Sierra Nevada foothills, and does not tolerate summer watering too well. The flowers are mostly white and nodding, hence the name fairy lantern. Found in the central oak woodland, chaparral, and even into the Ponderosa Pine forest. We discovered it on the nursery property in 1999, excitement!
