A sprawling evergreen manzanita shrub that will sucker to form a groundcover(all be it kneehigh-waist high). Associated plants include Keckiella ternatus, Keckiella antirrhinoides microphylla, Arctostaphylos otayensis (Otay Manzanita), Prunus fremontii, Quercus agrifolia, and believe it or not Acacia greggii. Native in the center and eastern parts of San Diego County. Soil varies from reddish clay to decomposed granite.
