Identification

Description

This is a delicate, miniature snapdragon that is very short-lived, (annual), diminutive, climbs other plants for support, but is so pretty, that the work to grow it is worth it. It grows in the southwestern portion of the state. The tiny, blue-lavender flowers are exquisite! Does best in part shade away from the coast, and will tolerate summer water. Most frequent in chaparral and coastal sage scrub after fires and in disturbed areas of those communities. Some of its associated plants are Quercus berberidifolia, Ceanothus tomentosus olivaceous, Rhus ovata, Rhus laurina, Keckiella cordifolia, Keckiella ternata, Romneya coulteri, Ceanothus oliganthus, Scrophularia californica, Diplacus puniceus, and Malacothamnus sp.
