The 'Uvas Canyon' variety of California fuchsia comes from the Gilroy area but seems to be very stable here. It is cold tolerant to at least 0 degrees F., and tolerates full reflected sun here as long as it gets regular water. This California fuchsia is drought tolerant along the coast and many places inland. Zauschneria Uvas Canyon' has very grey fuzzy foliage with hot red-orange flowers that flower for many weeks in early fall. A good hummingbird plant as it can get to 3' tall. It will handle first zone seashore(probably because of the hoary fuzzy foliage). Mix with California Aster and California Goldenrod to make a very nice summer border of COLOR along a lawn. This mix is a great transition planting between a lawn and a native garden.
