A north slope plant. McMinn says "because of its attractive green foliage and clusters of white flowers is suitable for ornamental planting. It grows rapidly in almost any kind of soil, but prefers full sunlight." The full sunlight must be in coastal gardens because in the Sierras it grows at @5000' in part shade in semi-moist conditions in an area much like Carpenteria californica's niches but out of the creek on the slope.
