Description
Erect to spreading perennial, fleshy, jointed stems, with scalelike leaves, from creeping rootstocks, insignificant flowers, an inhabitant of alkaline sinks and coastal salt marshes. Found in SAn Francisco Bay, the central and south coast of California, Channel Islands, the SAn Joaquin VAlley, the Mojave and Sonora deserts, northern Mexico. Major component of salt marshes and alkali sinks.
